The Entrepreneur Daily series are blog posts that I write when I am working on my side business. My goal is to write a post every day when I am in “entrepreneur mode” and actively working on my business, talking about what I’m grateful for and what I’m working on. In a perfect world, that would be every single day, but in my reality, I work on my business in spurts. I’ve accepted this as my reality for now and hope to improve going forward. This is my entrepreneur journal, to document where I am today.
What I’m Grateful For
Today I’m grateful for stretching. Sounds weird or maybe cryptic, I know. I have had some lower back pain for over a month now and the only thing that relieves it is stretching.
I have to stretch my hamstrings mostly to get relief. I do a quick routine of a warmup and then stretching for hamstrings, groin, and quads. That loosens things up and makes me feel okay for most of the day. However, I wake up again the next day feeling pain again, like everything tightens up overnight.
So at least I found stretching to relieve the pressure for now. I’m still seeking a long-term solution, like maybe changing my bed or going to a chiropractor.
What I’m Working On
I had a big fat failure on my day yesterday. I was supposed to read three chapters of my real estate book and dig into some real estate blog posts. I did none of that, unfortunately.
What I failed to plan for was the family schedule and my diet. Yesterday was open house for our schools and I played chauffeur for the kids. That meant going to three schools around town and running errands for about four hours in the afternoon. Then I came home, made dinner for the kids, and dove into eating carbohydrates for my Carb Nite routine. All of that made me tired, especially eating the carbs.
So instead of focusing on real estate education, I vegged out on the couch in a semi-conscious state, watching Netflix. My butt hit the couch at about 7 pm and that was all she wrote. Fail.
I should have planned for things better than I did. Had I looked at the family schedule and remembered that I was eating carbs, I would have been realistic with my daily goals. Instead, I got all excited about goals and failed to do any of it. Feels worse this way, but I’m not beating myself up over it. This is my cathartic writing to get it out and then it’s gone. Moving on.
Time to renew my goal for today.
Goals For the Day
Same as yesterday, basically. I want to read three chapters of my current real estate investing book, read one or two blog posts on real estate investing, listen to a podcast on real estate investing if I have time, and put together a spreadsheet showing what level of saving I’ll need to start investing in properties.
That’s more specific than yesterday’s goal.
