MDTM Entrepreneur Daily – 8.30.16

The Entrepreneur Daily series are blog posts that I write when I am working on my side business. My goal is to write a post every day when I am in “entrepreneur mode” and actively working on my business, talking about what I’m grateful for and what I’m working on. In a perfect world, that would be every single day, but in my reality, I work on my business in spurts. I’ve accepted this as my reality for now and hope to improve going forward. This is my entrepreneur journal, to document where I am today.

What I’m Grateful For

Today I’m grateful for wiffle ball. Yeah, wiffle ball, the kids ball game. I always played sports when I was growing up. You name the sport and I probably played it. If it had a ball, bat, helmet, stick, puck, skate, or other gear…my brother and I probably played it for a while. Wiffle ball was the one we always came back to, our go to sport.

It was the sport that got us outside, got me to track our stats (yes, I was a numbers nerd even back then), and stoked our competitive fires (man, we both hated losing). We worked to improve our curveball, our swing…the point is that we worked to improve.

So it was a great thing when I went to see my brother and his family recently and I brought my brand new wiffle ball set. It was a blast from the past. We played for about an hour in the hot sun, for old times sake. Just my brother and I played…the kids didn’t even want to play. We were terrible, but we were smiling. That’s all that mattered. It was another way for my brother and I to connect, at our advancing age.

What I’m Working On

I’m continuing work on my business model, what I mentioned yesterday. I had a chance to read more of my real estate book yesterday and continued to visualize what my business model will look like.

While I formulate this vision of my future real estate business, I continue working on my personal finances and driving down my debt. It’s a comprehensive plan to be ready for real estate investing as my finances are in order to push forward. I know that I can invest without having perfect credit or no debt, but I need to be comfortable with my situation before I jump in. It will take me a few more months to get my head around things, and give me a chance to really reduce my debt with my house refinance, which is in process now…fingers crossed!

Goals For the Day

The goal for today is simple…continue reading my real estate book. I want to have a full picture of my business model and business goals.

I may also get into the numbers from the real estate book, but only if I have the time. Well, I might make the time if the numbers are really itching my brain enough and I really need to scratch it. You know that thing that just bugs you until you satisfy it…the burning question that won’t go away until you Google it for an answer. This is one of those things so I might dive into some spreadsheets today.
